Madison Area Technical College will receive nearly $760,000 in federal grant money during the next two years to provide health information technology training that will help move Wisconsin toward a system of electronic medical records.
The grant is expected to help create 300 new jobs in our area. Here's Channel 3's story on the grant.

At least that's what many people are reading on the internet. As you might have guessed...it's a hoax. Madison Area Technical College astronomy instructor Dixie Burns was interviewed by the Wisconsin Radio Network about the hoax.

The wind turbine at Madison College's Fort Atkinson Campus was voted the best area improvement in the recent "Best of the Area" awards in the Daily Jefferson County Union.
Lynn Forseth and Jeff Dodge accepted the award on behalf of the College.

Madison College's Fort Atkinson and Watertown campuses will offer a new wind energy class this fall. The course will cover a number of topics including wind turbine designs, environmental effects of wind turbines, and the future of wind energy.

Madison College District Board member Frances Huntley-Cooper is co-chair of the "Walk It Out" health fair that will be held at the College this Saturday (July 24). The event's goal is to reduce obesity in the African American community.

The president of Madison Area Technical College sent a letter to part-time faculty Monday asking them to vote on a contract agreement with the college, which is now a year overdue.
Her letter is in response to an announcement by the MATC Part-Time Teachers Union leadership earlier this month that it was delaying ratification of a tentative agreement with the college because of concerns about the overtime policy for full-time professors.

The new wind turbine at Madison College's Fort Atkinson campus is saving energy and attracting attention!
It's nearly as tall as Godzilla...but quieter.
Madison Area Technical College recently held a special ribbon cutting ceremony for its new 155 foot wind turbine. The 100-kilowatt turbine is expected to produce 35 percent of the Fort Atkinson campus' electrical needs. That's a savings of $11,000 a year!

Baseball purists will often say to be a good hitter, you need to have a good eye at the plate. But Madison Area Technical College freshman Tanner Vavra has only one good eye. After a childhood injury, he became blind in one eye, but that hasn't stopped him from continuing his baseball career.
