Awards Breakfast Honors Students and
Donors |
|
The Madison Area Technical College
Foundation Scholarship Awards Breakfast
on April 22 acknowledged scholarship
recipients for the 2009-10 school year.
Recipients had the opportunity to meet
and thank their donors. The breakfast
also helped celebrate the generous
contributions of the alumni and friends
of the College.
Peter Foy, President of the Foundation,
spoke at the breakfast. Foy led the
College into its first major gifts
campaign called Smart Future, raising
$5.3 million for scholarships and
projects to date.
Following Foy, Ann Aswegan, RN, MS Ed.,
who is a 1975 associate degree nursing
alum and
Inner Vision and Holistic Health
Educator and Dream Consultant, spoke
passionately about giving back to the
College.
|
She went on to talk about the From
One Graduate to Another Scholarship
she recently started through the
Foundation.
The Distinguished Teacher Award was
also announced to recognize
excellence in teaching. The
recipients this year were Luke
Matthews, in Anthropology, and
Amanda Schumacher, in Therapeutic
Massage.
Donate
to next year’s scholars and show
your support of their success. The
success of our students means the
success of the community as a whole.
Since 1987, more than $11 million in
scholarships have been awarded,
assisting almost 33,000 students.
Thanks to all who attended the
awards breakfast, and to our alumni
and sponsors for their support.
Congratulations to all of the
student recipients this year! To

Alumni Spotlight: Vet Tech Melissa
Hayden
|
|
|
|
Melissa Hayden, Madison College
alumna, graduated in 1995 with a
Veterinary Technician degree to
prepare her to work in the real
world.
While she earned her degree, the
College provided her with an
internship to prepare her for a job
that she might have after
graduating.
However, Melissa enjoyed her
experience at Madison College so
immensely that she decided she
wanted to work here. She said she
gained her real-world experience out
in her field, and then returned to
Madison College to teach. |
Melissa says
the veterinary technician
program has expanded since her
time as a student. Not only is
the program larger in number of
students, but there are also a
variety of programs within the
Veterinary Technician degree
that students can choose from.
Melissa’s specialization is a
Large Animal Certified
Veterinary Technician.
